Hello to All!

I just wanted to give you guys (hee hee) and update!  It has been 110 to 112 degrees here lately.  They do this weird thing in the summer where they spray polyurethane foam on the roof of their houses.  I guess it keeps the heat out in 125 degree weather, which is apparently commonplace in late July and August.  I was looking through the phone book and saw a picture of this woman in a bathing suit on top of her house with a guy in the background spraying white foam on the roof.  I felt like I was in the twilight zone!

In other news of the weird... we are going to take our driver's license test tomorrow.  It is a law here that if you take a job or establish residence that you have to get a new license and plates.  You also have to get your vehicle registered based on its age and blue book value, which could cost as much as $500!!  The freakiest thing was that I was advised to study for the written test.  Eric's boss failed it when he moved here from Nola.  So I actually had to drive to the DMV just to get the book to study from!!

What else is going on... our furniture is still not here and now they are saying Wed or Thurs.  Thankfully we are being paid for every day that it is late, but it would be nice to have a bed and pillows!  Plus Tiger is getting antsy.  I hope his caterwauling is not keeping the neighbors up.  I met one of our neighbors at the apartment complex the other day and he is from Georgia.  He said that a few of them over there sneak over to this hotel from time to time to use the pool.  He said they don't care over here as long as they buy drinks. More weirdness... why come over here when there is a pool, gym, and spa there??

I do have to say, though, that I will miss the saxophone player that goes out by the pool every night at 5pm.  We can sit on the balcony and listen for a few hours and it is so relaxing!  Ah yes, and the nightclub.  I haven't been there yet b/c Eric can't go and the chef and his wife can't go b/c they all work here.  Costa's is supposed to be the best in the valley and I can't wait to go!  So if any of y'all are up for a trip here and some partying... I'm sure I will go before you get here anyway!  Haha!

Anyway, I must say I am enjoying the desert.  The heat here is not intolerable b/c the humidity is so low.  I have a nice tan and the sun shines every day.  The sunsets are beyond compare.   The harvest moon rising over the desert Tuesday night was huge!  I wish I had had my camera.  I do have a few good shots from the roof that I might scan to show you (whenever we get our scanner!).  Well, love to all and I will write more soon!
